Being a construction volunteer on our build site in our newest development, Grace Gardens, is the most common way to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity. Construction volunteers are vital to our mission. 90% of the labor used to build Habitat homes comes from volunteers. We build year-round and construction volunteers are essential to our success. Everyone 16 years and older is welcome to sign up!
What you need to know...
No previous construction skills or experience are required. We are always seeking skilled volunteers and Loveland Habitat is a teaching institution. We would love to teach you something new!
Schedule:
- Wednesday: 8:00 AM - 3:30 PM (Summer hours: 7:00 AM - 2:30 PM)
- Friday/Saturday: 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM. (Summer hours: 7:30 AM-2:30 PM)
What to Wear:
- Dress with safety in mind: Loose clothing can be dangerous when using power tools. Sturdy closed toed shoes are required, such as work boots or tennis shoes.
- Plan to get dirty! Wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty or stained.
- Keep an eye on the weather: Dress layered as weather conditions and job assignments may vary throughout the day.
What to bring:
- All tools, gloves, and safety equipment are provided by Loveland Habitat. Volunteers are welcome to bring their own gear if they would like!
Typical tasks:
- Framing
- Drywall,
- Soffit work
- Interior and exterior painting
- Landscaping
Become a Regular Construction Volunteer
Construction Regulars are the backbone of our home building operation. This is a group of like-minded individuals who are passionate about building Habitat homes on a consistent basis. Most Regulars volunteer 2-3 times per month on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Many regulars come out once or twice per week!
