How to Qualify for Homeownership
There are important qualifications that you must meet to be considered for Habitat homeownership. Applicants must meet the following guidelines:
Residency
Applicants must live or work in Loveland for one year prior to application
Housing Need
Overcrowded conditions
Unsafe housing
Rent is more than 40% of your income
Receive subsidized housing or Section 8 vouchers
Unable to qualify for a mortgage
Loveland Habitat for Humanity does NOT offer immediate housing assistance.
Willingness to Partner
Meet deadlines for application process
Attend classes once selected
Complete 200 “sweat equity” volunteer hours per adult applicant
Ability to Pay for Home
Meet income guidelines
Ability to pay bills on time
No bankruptcy in past 2 years, no foreclosure in past 3 years
No outstanding liens, judgments or collections (non medical)
US citizen or legal resident

Habitat Homeownership Program

Habitat homes are affordable because:
- They are built by volunteers working with future homeowners
- House payments are 30% of the applicant’s household monthly income at closing
- Habitat offers no-interest mortgage loans
