July’s volunteer spotlight is Jane Bush. Jane is a “regular” on the construction site and has been volunteering with Loveland Habitat for 2 ½ years. She was first interested in volunteering with Habitat when she retired and moved to Loveland from Missouri. At first, she volunteered at the ReStore but then decided to give the construction site a try. Even though she was nervous about not “being able to keep up”, Jane soon found her new niche, building homes. Jane says she loves working with her hands and learning new things about home repair and construction. She also really enjoys working alongside the other fellow “regulars”. Being the only female construction “regular”, she says that the others “respect what she can do and respect what she can’t do”, meaning they don’t hog the power tools and they are always willing to help. Jane’s favorite thing about volunteering on the construction site is working alongside the homeowners and learning their stories. Jane says, “it is rewarding to know that I’m bringing positive change to deserving families.” When Jane is not volunteering with Loveland Habitat, she enjoys golfing and quilting.
Thank you, Jane, for all that you do. We appreciate all your hard work!
